Bible Study - Sodom & Gomorrah - Part II
We will continue our journey through Genesis 18 and it is as follows:
Genesis 18 describes a visit to Abraham by three visitors, who are later revealed to be divine messengers. During their visit, one of the messengers tells Abraham that his wife Sarah will have a son within a year. Sarah, overhearing this, laughs at the idea because of her old age, but the Lord responds by questioning why she laughed, reaffirming that nothing is too hard for Him.
Later, as the visitors prepare to leave, the Lord reveals to Abraham His plan to investigate the sinfulness of Sodom and Gomorrah. Abraham intercedes on behalf of the cities, asking if God would spare them if righteous people could be found there. This discussion continues with Abraham questioning God down to whether He would spare the cities for the sake of 50 righteous people, to ten righteous people, and to a mere one person. The chapter ends with God departing and Abraham returning to his place.
